Level 3 visits Melbourne Zoo

On Thursday 28th November Year 3 & 4 students had an enjoyable time at the Melbourne Zoo. They explored many different animals in particular the rainforest animals. The following comments or findings were made by the students.

"The Silver-back Gorilla died at the age of forty. There is a new male gorilla from England. He is ten years old and will be the next silver-back."  Madeleine 3A

"The elephant at the Zoo is pregnant. The female elephant can be pregnant for one to two years." Thomas 3A

"I thought the Zoo was fun because a monkey was on another monkey’s shoulders and they were going crazy!" Holly L 3B

"I really liked all of the animals because they were funny and playful." Otto 3B

"I liked going to the Zoo because we learnt lots of facts about animals." Isabella 3B

"I liked the way the lions were showing off by attacking each other." Jonah 3C

"I liked the monkeys because they swung from rope to rope and jumped off the big branches. They also climbed on the netted roof." Rosie 3C

"I thought it was really special when the Squirrel Monkey mimicked my behaviour." Ocean 4A

"I really liked the rainforest section and seeing all the monkeys jumping around and hanging from their tails." Meg 4A

"At the zoo the tigers were amazing as they were not sleeping but awake and in search of prey! I felt excited all the way through my exploration of the zoo." Lucy 4B

"There were six tigers at the Melbourne Zoo and the biggest tiger at the zoo is the Sumatran Tiger. When we entered the butterfly house it was very hot and humid. When I kept still the butterflies landed on me!" Isabella 4B

"The Coati made us laugh because when I went to take a photo it tried to eat Chuckles our cheetah mascot. In the rainforest, coati's don't eat cheetahs. They climb trees to eat birds, lizards, grubs and insects." Jessica & Dan 4B

Preps at the Melbourne Zoo

On Wednesday the 27th of November the children in Prep went on an excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. It was a very hot day and fortunately for us there were plenty of drinking taps scattered around to keep us all hydrated.

The students enjoyed walking around and seeing all the animals they had learnt about during Term 4 at school. The children are to be commended for their excellent behaviour in trying conditions

Adam Wallace Visits

On Monday the 18th November, Adam Wallace came to visit Years 5 & 6's, and then an hour of laughter and drawing began.

He taught the Year 5's how to draw a skateboard gorilla, and the Year 6's how to draw a ziggin’ and zaggin’ dragon. He gave us a lesson on how to begin writing a story. However, we may have written too many.

We learnt more than how to draw a gorilla and a dragon that day. We learnt that an artist exists in every one of us. At the end he gave us each a special deal for his books and he signed every copy. He also fascinated us with a few of his hilarious and genius stories.

Thank you Adam Wallace, we learnt a lot.
