Preschool and Childrens Centre

It has been a busy few weeks in Preschool as we have focused on building the children’s sense of belonging and our relationships with the children and their families.

Thank you to the families who have already returned their family poster page, family photos and parent survey. The children have enjoyed sharing these with everyone at preschool which has also supported us in getting to know more about the children. Knowing about children’s backgrounds, interests and families helps us to plan learning tailored to your children. Please continue to return any completed papers and family photos to preschool so we can add them to our preschool book for sharing. If you have any questions about this, or need another copy please speak with staff.

Another learning focus has been developing children’s independence and organisation skills. The children have demonstrated these skills as they have learnt the daily routines of preschool. This includes the morning routine, group time routine, snack & lunch routine, & tidy up routine. The children are learning to recognise their name-labelling your child’s things helps with this and helps us know who to return items to. Children are taking responsibility for their belongings as they are learning to pack away their lunch boxes and find their hats for outside play.

Our Childrens Centre welcomed many new children and families in week 1 and 2 and they have all been getting to know each other through learning and play. There have been many changes in the learning environment to support investigative learning and are already showing group skills and friendships forming.
