Eclipse House News

I do hope the Boarders' Closed Weekend was enjoyable for all families. Before we know it, we will be into Term Two. I once again thank all Eclipse families for their ongoing support and communication this term. It really does make a difference and benefit your son when I am able to support them, congratulate them on achievements and guide them academically.

There has been no slowing down in Eclipse. The boys are all into their daily routine and developing positive connections in the house. The outdoor activities are continuing, and it is great to see many of the boys trying something new. The flavour of the month has been Spikeball! After school, Friday BBQs and Middleton Beach. If you are unsure what Spikeball may be, ESPN is now running world competitions on Youtube. There has also been plenty of Ping Pong in their spare time. We now have a second table and the Eclipse Open will soon begin. There is a singles title and doubles title to be won. Other activities that have been happening include, Cornhole, Hacky Sack, Golf and a little Woodwork. We are continuing our run club in the mornings, that is driven by the Year Eleven boys.

Boat Refurbishment Update

We have now stripped the boat of electrics, sanded and re installed some extra support. We are now onto fibre-glassing and researching effective and safe electrical setups.

Prep Time

Prep time during the week is productive with Year Tens working in the common area and Year Eleven boys in their rooms. We are seeing a team approach during this time, with some of the senior boys helping the younger ones. It is great to see!

House Values

Each Sunday after dinner we come together for our house meeting. We begin by sharing a compliment, a celebration, and a concern with someone next to us and then as a group. Most importantly, student voice is at the forefront. Allowing open and honest discussion about what we as a house are doing well and where we need to improve. We finish by the students brainstorming a question posed to them or concept that may challenge them. Last Sunday the questions put to the boys are below.

  • What makes a great Eclipse boarder?
  • What makes a great Eclipse Supervisor or House Parent?

See below what the boys have come up with. These are our house values that we strive to achieve daily from a boarder and supervisor perspective.

Birthdays

Our recent birthdays were Berkley Somerscales and Pierce Newman.  Many happy returns to both boys.

If you have any concerns or queries, please feel free to get in contact through phone or email.

Warm regards
