Anchorage House News

I hope you all enjoyed the Closed Weekend with your lovely boys. It was pleasing to see them return to boarding ready to take on the remainder of Term One. This term we have been talking about being accountable for our actions. We discuss our behaviour choices in regular meetings held in the house and encourage the boys to look out for each other. I am pleased with the way the boys are responding this year to our house goals and their commitment to growing into 'good men'.

The boys in Anchorage wrote cards of appreciation to special women in their lives to celebrate the achievements of a diverse group of women  for International Women’s Day. We discussed this year’s theme of “Break the Bias” and raised our awareness about the inequalities girls and women face around the world. We looked at the role we can all play in creating a world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination.

Anchorage Staffing

This week we welcomed a new supervisor into Anchorage, Mr Jackson Pitman. He is keen to be involved, keeping the boys busy and engaged. Jackson enjoys triathlons and keeping fit, his calm but strong presence is appreciated by the students.

For the second year, Mr Colgate has arranged to teach our boarders woodwork after school on a Tuesday. The Years Seven and Eight boys have enjoyed this term of woodwork. They have made a chopping board and engraved their name onto it. Thank you to Mr Colgate for his woodwork expertise and the time spent with our boarders.

Outdoor Activities

It has been lovely to watch new connections develop between boarders. These connections are forged when participating in fun activities together, such as fishing down the Kalgan River. The boys took advantage of the good weather and had a fantastic time throwing in a line. Some were lucky enough to hook a fish. Together we kicked the footy, made waffles, played ping pong and had a fun Rec shed party to celebrate a great start to the year.

Birthdays

Happy Birthday to Lucas Smart and Louis Ford, both recently celebrating turning 13. Many happy returns.
