From the Boarding Captains

This week we are transitioning from our first Vice Captain, Pierce Newman, to our second Vice Captain for the year Brendan Quick. Firstly, I would like to thank Pierce for his assistance so far this year. Pierce has many good ideas and has set a high standard for the others to follow. I look forward to working with Brendan over the next six weeks and wish to allow him to introduce himself to the boarding community below.

Madison Smart | Boarding Captain

I am very excited to become the next boarding Vice Captain, after Pierce, and introduce my perspectives to the Boarding Leadership group. My name is Brendan Quick, and I’ve been a boarder at Great Southern Grammar since Year Seven.  I come from Frankland River and my family farm cereals, canola, cows and sheep as many other boarders here do also.

During my term as a boarding leader, I hope to continue my peer’s efforts to highlight the values of boarding during the activities engaged in within the boarding community.  I would also like to introduce some of my own values and strengths which are:

  • perseverance
  • prudence
  • a love of learning
  • hope and good judgement

I believe that all these values are important, and we should give boarders the opportunity to harness their own values and enjoy their time integrating with the community. I am going to try my best to understand everyone’s opinion during discussions and endeavour to find solutions that everybody can agree upon.
