Week 8 Assembly

Hi KPS Community

We hope you enjoy our assembly recording for the week using the link below.

Superhero   Olive    18/03/2022

Our Superhero this week is receiving the award for the school values of Persistence.

Olive shows growing persistence in her work every week. ‘Doing your Best’ is something that she has been working towards.

Olive is building confidence in knowing that challenging yourself is a good thing.

Persistence has been shown in her ability to ensure that a ‘good fit book’ is selected during our reading session.

When Olive works in a small group led by a teacher, she shows Persistence in her effort to engage in the conversation and work tasks.

Persistence has been shown in her ability to work through maths tasks that are challenging to find the right answer.

Olive has demonstrated Persistence in working on building her writing stamina while attempting to use all our VCOP elements.

You are a valued class member of studio 12!

Congratulations Olive, we hope you have a great week!

Superhero   Nour

Nour is receiving the Superhero award for the school value of Care.

Nour always comes into the classroom with a wonderful smile. She is always the first to offer any help and consistently looks out for, and stands up for, her fellow classmates and teacher. No matter who she comes across, Nour always greets everyone with enthusiasm and kindness. Nour is a lovely student and is well liked by all who meet her.

This Superhero always gives one hundred percent to every area of learning, even if it might be a challenge! She is confident to ask questions if she needs help and is happy to make mistakes to improve in her learning. She loves to check in to make sure she is on track and will kindly help others to stay on track too!

Nour's happy, supportive and kind nature has made her a great team player. She is very resilient and will often encourage others to have a go as well.

Nour has a good sense of humour, is kind and very caring, and is overall a fantastic Grade 3 student and classmate.

We love having this Superhero in Studio 6.

Congratulations  Nour, we hope you have a great week!

Staff Car Park

For new families and as a reminder to other families please do not enter the staff car park.  This is to ensure the safety of our families.

Students Arriving Late

Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book.  They will then be issued a late pass to take to class and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll.  This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.

Contact Details

There are times when we will need to contact you, including on the day if your child is absent and you have not informed the school as to why. Do we have your most up to date contact details?

If not, please contact the school by email to kyneton.ps@education.vic.gov.au or on     5422 1855 so we can update our records. Please include parent/carers’ name, address, phone numbers, email address and emergency contact details. Please remember to contact the school if any of these details or your circumstances change.

Accessing Compass

Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au

Using our parent portal will enable you to –

  • View up-to-date class and school attendance information
  • Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
  • Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
  • Access information regarding upcoming events and news
  • Access your child’s Semester Reports
  • Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences

We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notification to ensure you receive all communications.

Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.

Managing illness in schools and early childhood - COVID 19

Dear KPS Community

One of the most important things we can do to slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community is to stay at home when we are unwell, even when we have the mildest of symptoms.

What you need to know

Young children with persistent mild symptoms

Younger children (pre-school up to Grade 2) may have prolonged post-viral symptoms such as a runny nose or cough and may return to school following a negative COVID-19 test even if they are not completely free of symptoms. They will need a medical certificate from their GP to confirm they are otherwise well or have recovered from their acute illness.

Any worsening of symptoms will require review and repeat COVID-19 testing, if considered appropriate by the doctor.

Students with a negative COVID-19 test whose symptoms have completely resolved do not need a medical certificate to return to the school.

For further information for schools and to distribute to families see: Managing illness in schools and early childhood services during the COVID-19 pandemic. I have also attached the fact sheet behind this link to this message.

Hats required in Term 1

In line with our Sun Safe policy children are required to wear the school uniform wide brimmed or bucket hats when playing outside in Term 1 and Term 4. Please ensure your child brings their hat to school every day for outside play.

Hats are $11 and available to purchase from our uniform supplier AGS Prints or from the school office.
