DAV British Parlimentary Shield

Four years of Huntingtower champions have just had their achievements added to the Debaters Association of Victoria’s newly-minted Elizabeth Sheargold Shield.

The shield is awarded to the winners of the Victorian British Parliamentary Junior State Tournament, which our students have won since its inception in 2018. Well done to all of our winners on establishing an impressive legacy!

Michael X (Year 11)

Recent Swannie Award winner Michael read aloud his speech in last week's assembly. The speech was titled:

"If Cinderella's slipper was perfect, then why did it fall off her food?

Michael was the runner up (thanks to this riveting speech) at the Rotary Ainger Peck Public Speaking Award in 2021, we were thrilled that he performed the same speech for the school. Well done!

Anjali S (Year 12)

Winner of the 2022 Lions Youth of the Year Award Anjali was officially presented with the Graham F Angus Perpetual Trophy shield by Lions representatives.

The award recognises young people who make a positive contribution to their community, are actively engaged with contemporary issues and demonstrate excellence across education, community service, sports and public speaking.

She will now proceed into the next round of regional finals, which are scheduled to be held in mid-March.
