Current Instrument Vacancies

We currently have places available for students to take up the instruments listed below, with the added bonus that we are currently offering free instrument hire for two terms if the student commences by the start of Term 2 with a Huntingtower Music Teacher:

Woodwind Brass Strings

Alto Saxophone Euphonium Cello

Bassoon French horn Double Bass

Tenor Saxophone Trombone Electric Bass

Tuba

Stocks of instruments are limited, so this offer is available on a first-in first-served basis. In addition, there are some limited places for individual music lessons through the school for Melodic Percussion and Cello. Further details are available on the school website here: https://www.huntingtower.vic.edu.au/index.php/music-program

Ultimately the instrumental ensembles need a breadth of instrument types to produce a balanced sound; in particular the low strings, woodwind and brass are critical to creating the warm blends of tone that support the existing higher-pitched instruments.

Year 2 Strings Program Underway

One of the delights witnessed every Wednesday in the Music Centre is the Year 2 String Program students who arrive with a sense of eagerness and wonderment.

We first see the ‘Apprentices’ (those with some prior experience) who are doing a sterling job of tackling the fun repertoire; and then the beginners arrive full of excitement and ready to learn their charming open-string songs.

We look forward to seeing these students progress over the coming years, and entering the various school ensembles on offer in due course.
