Year 7 Camp
Year 7 camp
Students were excited to head out to the beautiful surroundings in Kyneton last week on their adventure to Year 7 Camp.
We had FANTASTIC weather the entire time which was excellent as it meant students could participate in all the activities in the grounds surrounding the campsite.
Students were able to do activities such as rock climbing, leap of faith, orienteering, challenge courses, low ropes course and the flying fox. But the fun did not stop there. At night, the year 10 Peer support students held trivia for the students and they were also able to have a game of capture the flag out on the oval.
We had a lot of positive feedback from staff running the camp that our Wantirna students are some of the best behaved and most polite students they have accommodated which I think is testament to the lovely and helpful nature of the cohort.
We would like to thank the Year 10 Peer Support students who worked to provide games and activities for the year 7 students as well as support during the daily activities and their free time.

Student reflections
Camp was absolutely amazing! On Wednesday the 2nd of March the year 7 students excitedly gathered in the middle of the courtyard grasping their suitcases and bags packed to the brim. At 8:45am we chattered excitedly as the teachers emerged from the crowd ready to mark our attendance and take us up to the many buses ready to drive us to Campaspe Downs.
The hour and a half drive was interesting and exciting as we imagined what activities we would be doing. During the three days we stayed we got through some really fun activity rotations. The activities were; flying fox, rock climbing, archery, orienteering, initiatives, the leap of faith, low ropes and the challenge course. The leap of faith was my favourite because you pretty much jumped of a tall pole and floated down on the harness. The camp even had a gorgeous set up with a giant lake in the middle, lots of the kids would go for a walk around it in the morning while then sun was rising and it was covered in mist.
I really enjoyed finally going on a school camp and I loved the experience of sharing bunk beds with all my friends. Over all I had a really good time and I hope the year 7's to come will love the experience as much as I did.

Year 7 Transition camp at Camp Campaspe Downs started on Wednesday 2nd of March, all Year 7 students got onto five big buses.
It took us one and a half hours to get there.
We got straight into our colour groups, I was in purple group. We did the flying fox, it was so much fun! Some girls thought there was a crocodile in the water when it was just a long tree log. Then we did rock climbing with our teacher named Ellie. There were different levels of rocks to climb on. The first time we just went up to the red marker and then we could go all the way to the top and yes, we were in harnesses.
In my cabin there was Rony, Daniel, Ashton, Aiden and me, we were in the cabin Yabby 26. Daniel and Rony had a chip party without me it was so disappointing. The food was ok but the chicken was over cooked way too much but I liked the rest of the food.
Then sadly it was home time. We hopped onto the bus and got ready for the long bus ride home. I slept all the way back to school. I would recommend all future Year 7's go to this camp, it is a great chance to make new friends like I did.
