NSTA Tennis
The courts were still damp but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the players. It was great to get out after a week off last week and play tennis again. Thank you to Ethan Li, Venedict Valerio, Richard Gauci, Cooper Anderson and Spencer Anderson who volunteered to help out with umpiring the early matches. Thank you also to the many students who also played up one or a few divisions: Adrian Yip, Venedict Valerio, Oliver Johnston, Matthew Lee, Justin Lee, Nicholas Kwan, Bradley Ning, Marco Akdagcik and Jonathon Webster. It has been inspiring to see so many of the boys who have played up winning their matches! They have really stepped up.
With only one more round to go before the finals and play offs it is important to check the ladder and see how your team is going. Remember that ALL teams will be involved in the finals and play offs on 19 March.

It is important to also remember that ALL players must stay until all matches for their team have finished. Please make sure that you are there to support your team members.

Monday: Strictly Year 10-12
Tuesday: Strictly Year 7- 9
Wednesday: Training open to Year 7-12
Thursday: Training open to Year 7-12

Students must book their training time slot through the Mind Body App which can be found on the school's Intranet page. A reminder due to COVID-19 restrictions and gym safety, a maximum of 20 students are permitted to train during each session. If students are unable to reserve a position on the Mind Body App, it means the time slot is full and they will be placed on a waiting list. If students have reserved a spot and are unable to make their booked session, they MUST cancel on the app to allow the waitlisted students an opportunity to train. A reminder the Sarto Gym is a phone free environment and students must bring their own sweat towel.

CSDA Debating Competition
The CSDA Debating Competition runs through Term 2 on the following evenings. YELLOW CSDA Debating ONLY Registration forms need to be completed and dropped into the box on the student verandah asap. Debaters will need to meet at the clock after our Sports Assembly this Friday.
The 2022 Debating season kicks off this term with:
Week 7 Training: Friday 18 March 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm
Week 8 Training: Friday 25 March 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm
Week 9 Training: Friday 1 April 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm. Please note our pre-season 'Friendly' Debate has been cancelled.
If you want to be part of the terrific St Pius X College debating community it is essential that you attend ALL of the first six rounds. If your team makes it through to the Elimination round (and beyond) you also need to keep the above dates free.
Our senior students act as coaches/supporters for our junior teams. We are also lucky enough to have ex-students to work with the junior teams as the younger students really enjoy contact with our ex-debating “champions”.
The fee for the CSDA extra-curricular activity is $150.00 which will be included in your Term Two school fees. We keep our fees as low as possible and receive funding from the St Pius X College P & F to subsidise the costs of running debating at SPX.
