Prayer
International Women's Day 8 March 2022
I share with you the prayer read by our Year 5 Gold class at yesterday's Assembly for International Women's Day. We thank Ms Brenda Timp, Principal of Mercy Catholic College, and Year 10 student leaders who participated in our Assembly. We also thank Mrs Emma Fryar, Mrs Jill Greenwood and Mr Greg Virgona who were interviewed as part of the Assembly along with two Year 10 Mercy students.
We thank all the people who care for us and our wellbeing:
counsellors, cleaners, mothers and grandmothers.
We thank all the people who are in the medical profession:
doctors, nurses, health care workers.
We thank all the people who are in our defence and security forces:
army, navy, airforce.
We thank all the people who transport us around safely:
trains and pilots.
We thank all the people who care for us and do dangerous jobs:
truck drivers, police, firies, SES.
We thank all the people who made amazing discoveries for the human race:
Marie Curie, Virginia Apgar, Patricia Goldman-Rakic.
And thank you for our sisters, who will be given every opportunity, without prejudice to achieve whatever their dreams may be.
I also include below a letter from Dr Craig Wattam, Executive Director of EREA, which he shared for International Women's Day. It is a beautiful reflection.
Flood Appeals
We continue to pray for those affected by the floods in Sydney, northern NSW and Queensland. If you would like to donate to assist the victims with so many things they currently need I include links to St Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army which are providing much-needed assistance.
P & F Meeting
Monday night's Parents and Friends meeting became a virtual meeting on TEAMS due to the weather and we were very pleased at the large number of parents who were able to join us online. It was an excellent meeting and I thank Sarah Gillard, the P&F Executive and all Club Presidents for their input to the meeting.
I also wish to thank Mrs Jill Greenwood for her presentation about the Junior School and her own hopes for the years ahead at SPX.
