Guess Who's Getting Married This Weekend?

The Bride to Be
The Bride to Be

This weekend we wish the beautiful Miss Debbie and her partner Steve all the joy and happiness in the world on their wedding day.

Through the hecticness of coordinating make-up and hair and gowns and bouquets, we hope their day will be filled with memories they can treasure forever.

May their marriage be filled with all the right ingredients: a heap of love, a dash of humor, a touch of romance, and a spoonful of understanding. May their joy last forever.

Congratulations!

Miss Debbie will be 'back on deck' next Thursday so please be kind to us in the office.

Rapid Antigen Tests

There has been a state-wide delay on the next delivery of Rapid Antigen Tests to school so we thank you for your patience. Once delivered we will distribute them to families via the regular process.

It is recommended that tests be conducted twice weekly on school days and/or when children are feeling sick.

Management of Household Contacts

There seems to be a bit of confusion in the community regarding the management of household contacts.

The current procedure (as stated in the most recent CECV Operational Guidelines) is as follows:

  • Where a student is a household contact of a positive case (that is, they have spent more than four hours with someone who has COVID-19 inside a house, accommodation, or care facility) they must inform the school and isolate for seven days and not attend school during that period.
  • Parents/carers should inform the school by phone or written notification.

Should these procedures change we will notify families.

When children need to isolate at home, learning activities can be accessed via their Google Classroom.

Kanga Cricket Gala Day

Last Friday our Year 5/6 children participated in the Footscray District Kanga Cricket Gala day at Hansen Reserve. Our children competed honorably and enjoyed the day.

What was really pleasing was the manner in which they conducted themselves throughout the day which was noted by one particular parent volunteer who took the time to write me an email in praise of our children -

"Today I was a parent volunteer at the Kanga Cricket event at Hansen Reserve where I umpired teams from 4 different schools.

All the students I umpired appeared to have a lot of fun and it was a highly successful day.

All the kids were great. I'm writing to let you know your students - the team of 6 I umpired -  stood out. They were so polite and well-mannered, very supportive of each other and respectful of the other teams. They brought such good grace and positive energy to the day..."

It is always wonderful to hear of such positive behavior and it just goes to show that people do notice and appreciate good sportspersonship!

School Athletics Carnival

Information will be forwarded this week (via Operoo) regarding our School Athletics Carnival which will be held on Monday 28th March, at Moonee Ponds Athletics Track (Aberfeldie Park).

All children (Year Prep - Year 6) will be transported by bus and will return around 1:30 pm.

Buses will be leaving at 9:10 am so please have your children at school on time

Children will eat lunch upon their return to school.

Children will need to:

  • Wear their sports uniform and wear a T-shirt of their team’s colour
  • Bring a refillable water bottle
  • Bring play lunch (please pack an extra ‘something’ as the children will not be having lunch until they return to school)
  • Bring a small backpack to put everything in
  • Have an extra-large breakfast!

We will also need a number of parents to volunteer to assist with events so please indicate your availability on the Operoo Form being sent home. Parents will be contacted prior to the day confirming your attendance. Please note volunteers MUST be double vaccinated and have an up-to-date WWCC.

As mentioned all this information will be forwarded to families via Operoo. Our Athletics Carnival is always a lot of fun so let's hope the weather is kind to us.

Assemblies

As of next Monday, Assemblies will be held outdoors (face-to-face) in the gathering space. For this to be successful (and to continue) we need to ensure that families in attendance observe social  distancing measures.

Have a wonderful week

God bless
