Religious Education and Social Justice

 Project Compassion donations

Our Social Justice Leaders have delivered Project Compassion donation boxes to each Learning Community. We encourage children to place some money in the boxes so that by the end of Lent we can make a donation to Caritas Australia to support the wonderful work they do in caring for people in Australia and other countries.

Each week during Lent Caritas Australia features a story of a person who has faced great hardship. We learn how the generosity from people like our own community has helped with the development of skills and resources to make life better for that person.

This week Janice, who lives here in Australia in Arnhem Land, shares her story.

Janice's story

Australia

A Wagilak woman, Janice is a traditional dancer who tells stories through movements handed down over generations. With your support, Janice and the Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation support the community to generate income and employment, while keeping culture alive.

Janice lives on Jawoyn country in Arnhem Land. Like many remote communities in the Northern Territory, Janice faces a range of challenges – low employment and education, financial hardship, poorer health and lower life expectancy.

Zooper Dooper Fridays

A reminder that the Social Justice Leaders are selling Zooper Doopers at lunchtime on Fridays this term. The Zooper Doopers cost $1.00 each and all proceeds from the sales will go towards supporting our Social Justice initiatives this year.

Prayer for Ukraine

As the horror of war continues in Ukraine we continue to pray for peace and justice to return to the people and their country.

May God bless us all and keep us safe.
