Principal's Message

I hope this last newsletter for the term finds you and your family well. I wish to thank all our parents and carers for your support throughout Term One. This has been a term like no other and I have appreciated the way in which all parents have flexibly moved through the many changes that COVID has brought along for the students at the school. I would also like to thank and congratulate the staff at Marangaroo for their incredible efforts in ensuring the continuation of learning throughout the past month or so, particularly as we have seen many staff absent due to COVID isolations. We have a wonderful staff at Marangaroo and this term has seen them step up to support the students once again. Congratulations also to all students who have been incredibly resilient towards the many changes - well done. The staff and students have earned their upcoming holiday!

School Holidays

This Friday, 8 April, is the last day of the term, before the two-week break. The students will return to school on Tuesday 26 April, the day after ANZAC Day. This year's ANZAC service has been cancelled but students will still recognise and learn about ANZAC Day in their classrooms early next term.

COVID Isolations and Positive Cases over the holidays

While we wish everyone good health in the holidays, we appreciate that some of our families are likely to need to isolate or even test positive for COVID during the holidays. Rather than communicate this if/when it happens, please hold off communicating to the school during the break. On the last Sunday afternoon of the holidays, all families will receive a text message with a link to a survey, which will ask you about your child's isolation and COVID status. This will assist us in preparing for remote learning for Term Two, as well as ensure our records are up to date moving forward. One of the reasons we need to know if you child has tested positive is this will make them exempt from being a close contact for 12 weeks following their positive test date.

Caring C Rewards

Last Friday we held our second Caring C Reward afternoon, with many students getting to participate in a silent disco in the undercover area. This was to reward students who had earned at least three care coins, as well as demonstrated 'expected' behaviours throughout the four-week period.

For each three care coins earned, beyond the initial three, students now have the opportunity to spin the prize wheel and earn from a range or prizes, which is proving to be popular!

COVID Vaccination Clinic - Tuesday 10 May

The Department of Health have asked us to host a 'pop-up' vaccination clinic at our school next term, which we have agreed to do. This will mean that any parents who wish to receive their COVID vaccination are able to do so. Parents are also able to bring their child (age 5 or older) to the clinic to be vaccinated, if they choose. If a student is receiving their vaccination, their parent must be with them at the time. We will send more information home at the beginning of next term.

Easter Hat Parade

Yesterday, the students from the K/PP classrooms in D Block had their Virtual Easter Hat Parade, with the remainder of the school enjoying theirs tomorrow, Thursday 7 April. A link has been posted on Class Dojo for parents to tune in live and we also invite any students isolating at home to join in.

Assembly Friday

The students in Kookaburras (Year 4/5) have been working hard on their assembly, which will take place on Friday morning at 9am. This will be a virtual assembly, with the link posted on Class Dojo. We hope you can tune in to see the Kookaburras' hard work!
