Writing
We have been busy in Grade 1 refreshing our skills when it comes to writing. We have been looking at recounts and using sentence openers such as firstly, next, then, after that etc. We have also been focusing on using capital letters and punctuation appropriately. You can see here, we have also been rereading our work and making changes if needed (revising and editing).
Reading
Our reading groups are in full swing. During these sessions we work in differentiated groups and complete reading tasks targeted to support our learning. We have been practising reading our sight words (Magic Words), utilising the Sound Waves program to reinforce the sounds/spelling we are focusing on, as well as a teacher group where we read and comprehend a text together. Here you can see our ‘Team Captains’ reporting back to the class on their learning.
1B have begun the PMP - Perceptual Motor Program and are loving it! This session gives them the opportunity to develop their eye-hand coordination and gross motor skills.
Here you can see students in 1B enjoying an egg and spoon race while others attempted to move small balls through a maze board. Great work 1B!
We have learned all about place value! Here are our creative creatures made out of MAB. We have shown how many hundreds, tens, and ones we used and wrote our numbers out in expanded form too!
