In 5/6A, students chose a special skill that they wanted to share with their Foundation buddy. We worked through the Stages of Writing to publish a procedure with steps to follow in order to perform this skill. The buddies then met up to learn how to do this skill. We had a wide range of things happening: from cookie decorating, to kicking a football, to jewellery making. It was so much fun!
In 5/6B, we have had an extremely challenging few weeks. In Lily, we lost a classmate, we lost a role model, and we lost a friend. The students in class wrote some heartfelt words about their friend and it was truly touching to see all students support and care for each other in such a tough time. We held our votes for pot plant designs and the winning designers decorated their pots. International Women's Day was celebrated, and the students dressed in purple while reading and writing about inspirational females both in the world and in our own lives.
Earlier this term, 5/6C started on an abstract self portrait and finally they have been finished. They traced a photograph, used warm and cool colour watercolour pencils and completed the look with straight lines. The students are all very proud of their completed master pieces and they certainly brighten up our classroom. Well done 5/6C for persevering with this lengthy and detailed task.
Suchitha created this AMAZING reading profile outlining her preferred text types, authors and subjects. Very cool!
