From the Principal

Shane Davoren

Dear Parents and Friends,

Last Friday the children wore casual clothes and were encouraged to wear some orange as they celebrated the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence. The students in Years 5 and 6 organised some games for all students to take part in during the afternoon.

We also decided to link this day with a fundraiser for the people of Ukraine. Children were asked to bring in a donation to help support this worthy cause. We raised $775.55 which is a wonderful effort.  The money will be sent to Caritas Australia, who have a long-standing partnership with Caritas Ukraine, who are currently working on the ground providing emergency support to internally displaced persons and to provide essentials to vulnerable and displaced people in Ukraine, including: emergency food and water, shelter hygiene kits and psychological counselling. Thank you to everyone who generously donated money.

The students loved the activities that were run by the 5/6 students and we were able to highlight the importance of this cause. Here are some of the action shots!

The School Advisory Council is meeting tonight and part of the meeting will involve dicussing and reviewing the following policies;

  • Child Safety Policy
  • Child Safety Code of Conduct
  • Child Safety Risk Register
  • Visitors and Volunteers Policy
  • Parent Guardian Carer Code of Conduct

While these policies have existed for some time, they have been updated following the governance changes to Catholic schools in Melbourne. As you are probably aware all Catholic schools in Melbourne are governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd. Many policies are now consistent across all Catholic schools in Melbourne. Once reviewed by the School Advisory Council, the updated policies will be made available on the school website. Further detail will be shared in next week's newsletter.

Welcome Picnic

We are looking forward to the Welcome Picnic tomorrow after school from 3:45pm - 6pm. The jumping castle will be ready to go and free icy poles and donuts will be made available for students.  There will be a raffle with tickets $1 each or 6 for $5. We hope to see everyone there, even if you are not able to stay the whole time.

The end of Term is fast approaching. Please check the calendar below for upcoming events.

If you have any concerns about your child's learning or wellbeing, please contact their teacher or myself.

Regards
