Principal's Report

“This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before.” Maya Angelou

The first day of on-site learning for our Year 7’s was wonderful.  The sun was shining, the positive energy of staff was exhilarating and the smiling eyes of our students was fantastic.  The buzz and excitement of being together for learning was palpable.  The students embraced the new way of learning with masks and made sensible decisions with mask breaks as needed.  Masks did not hinder their chatter or laughter both in and out of the learning spaces.  We hope that everyone has had a opportunity to read through the Return to On-Site Learning that was sent via COMPASS on Friday.  The detailed document provides the processes and protocols to ensure the safety and health of our students and staff as we return to on-site learning. Year 7s will be participating in a Wellbeing Day next Tuesday all day.  A description of the activities of the day will be provided later in the week.

There have been changes to the session times for our Year 8 and 9 students to accommodate the on-site learning.  We will provide an update prior to Year 8s and 9s beginning on-site learning.

A reminder that October 23rd is a public holiday for the football Grand Final and there will be no school on that day.  Hopefully, we have great weather and it can be enjoyed outside.

Our school production team has been doing a terrific job and will be sharing some exciting news about the upcoming production.  While the world of performance has changed in response to COVID19, so has our production.  Our students and teachers have shifted the performance to an on-line space and it is such a positive for those talented students to still have an opportunity to grow and share their passion.  Watch this space for more updates soon!!

Edie, Indiya, Ben and Archie shared their excitement about being back on-site for learning.

Motivational Speaker

All students will be attending a virtual session next week during GOAL on Monday morning.  Vinh Giang will be presenting a highly engaging session entitled: The Leader’s Instrument.  This inspiring talk will give our students some very insightful tips on presenting who they are to the world.  A huge thank you to one of our parents, Stephen Dowling, for bringing our school community this great speaker.  If you would like a taste of what Vinh has to offer check out this video:  Conversations with Thought Leaders

Stage 2 Update

The planning is moving ahead quickly as a stimulus build project.  The architects are finalising the feedback from the focus groups and will be putting the tender together in the coming month.  We are planning to share with the school community in the coming weeks.  The design is very exciting and builds on the already great learning spaces we have.  It has factored in the approach to teaching and learning that our school uses as part of our culture. I am sure there are many questions which we know will be answered when the plans are presented.  We will organise a Webex Event soon.
