Waste Free Lunch

Mietta Burton & Taylah Stewart - Environmental Leaders

As the Environmental Leaders for 2020, we look at managing the amount of waste that is in our school community. On Friday 28 August, we ran a waste free lunch activity  involving the primary classes to see which class had the most amount of waste. The waste would be recycled and thrown into the appropriate bins and the food scraps got put into separate buckets provided by Mrs Row and given to the worm farm that was just donated to her prep class by the Environment Team.

Congratulations to the Prep and Year 5 White classes, plus their teachers Mrs Row and Mrs Doust, for winning the waste free lunch! Thank you also to Isabelle Kleeman for her help on the day and to the Year 10 Food Studies class for making the delicious cupcakes that were the prizes for the waste warriors.

We are both passionate about making a positive difference within our school community and have ordered an array of different recycling boxes for our school, including battery, pen and paper recycling. This is a fun and exciting project for us as we want people to be aware of the impact plastic has on our environment, especially within our school community. We have a few more exciting projects planned for the remainder of the year and we hope to see you get involved.
