First Parent/Student/Teacher Conferences – Wednesday 26th August
MGC completed our first Parent/Student/Teacher Conference session online this week. Although it hopefully went smoothly from the perspective of families, there was a significant amount of work that needed to be completed at the MGC end to make this work. A huge thanks to Anthony Keen, Luke Blues and Jason Ruttmar for their technical expertise in the IT space, as well as the Prin team of Rachel Robertson, Andrew Arney and Sefija Demirova for their work with families and teachers.
If you participated in this first round of conferences, we would appreciate your feedback. Please click here to complete our short survey.
Our second round of PST Conferences will occur on Tuesday 15th September and some places are available for booking with some teachers – please see Compass for details.
You Can’t Ask That – Teacher Edition – Episodes 2 and 3
With thanks to our Senior School Executive and particularly our College Captains Veronique, Lucy and Ophelia, I would encourage you to view the second and third episodes of ‘You Can’t Ask That – Teacher Edition’ here and here.
VCE Arrangements
Over the next couple of weeks we anticipate that we will hear more from the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority regarding arrangements for the re-scheduled General Achievement Test (GAT) on Wednesday 7th October. We also anticipate that more detail regarding the Consideration of Educational Disadvantage – applicable to all students studying Unit ¾ subjects this year, will also be released. As soon as we receive those details Patricia Sklavakis, Year 12 Leader, and I will pass them on.
Return to On-Site Learning
As the Deputy Premier and the Chief Health Officer have stated in the media in recent days, we anticipate that students will return to on-site learning in Term 4, however, we don’t as yet know which year levels will return first (although we anticipate Unit 4 students would be back first). Of course, as we hear more about this we will let you know. I know that remote learning has had its challenges for students, parents and teachers, and we’re all hoping the number of cases of coronavirus in Victoria continue to trend downwards so that we can have students back sooner rather than later.
