Library News

The Library has been a busy place during Term One. We have had a steady stream of Secondary students coming in for study, classes from the Primary School coming across regularly to have stories read to them and to borrow books. This week our Year Ones visited during the Secondary lunch break and had stories read to them by a group of our Secondary students. This was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our Year Four students used their library time not only to research their sustainability topic over a number of weeks but also to interview the Year Five class and the study students in the library at the time. The interactions between the Primary and Secondary groups were completely unplanned but a joy to watch as both groups benefited from the interactions.

Year Seven students came across to learn how to scan work in HASS, Year Eight students undertook the research process to compare urbanisation in China and Australia, Year Eleven lit and History students were introduced to the wonders of finding primary sources of information through a variety of sources and all of these began to practice correct referencing using APA6 in Citemaker. Students have been given access to quality, vetted resources through LearnPaths in the Library system for a number of learning areas and topics.

We have had a number of great displays in the foyer of the Library - the last one celebrating all aspects of the Easter celebration.

On display for the beginning of Term Two will be artworks by Year Nine students based on the work of Cressida Campbell.

It is with sadness we say goodbye to Mrs Sue Pyle and Mrs Kathy Lubke who will not be returning next term. We wish them well in their future endeavors. The Library will have a new staff member starting at the beginning of next term. I will be here for another term while Ms Couper finishes her long service leave.

Library opening hours

Due to the change in staffing we will need to revisit our opening hours. At present I envisage the Library being open from 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Thursday, closing at 3.30pm on Fridays.
