Easter Service

Gathering as one school at this year’s Easter service provided an opportunity to share in the important message of Easter. Students from across the School retold bible stories, displayed artwork and highlighted traditional Easter symbols to set the scene. The School Captains gave personal reflections about what Easter means to them and their family. This was followed by our School Chaplain challenging us to find the real meaning of Easter. Our wonderful school choir enhanced the sense of reverence by leading in a collection of traditional hymns including The Servant King.

Thank you to all students and staff involved with special thanks to School Chaplain, Mrs Naomi Cooper.

Boarding

Last week, the Boarding Parent Committee met for the first time this year. The role of this committee is to provide a link with boarding parents and the school. Head of Boarding, Mr Ashley Keatch, Deputy Principal, Mrs Emma Franklin, Boarding Administration Officer, Mrs Dianne Franzinelli and myself discussed with the boarding representatives the important role boarding plays within our school. In this edition of the Anchor, I encourage all families to read the boarding section that from time-to-time will be placed in the Anchor as a way of informing the GSG community of the boarding activities and achievements. To our boarding families, the content is taken from the Boarding Buzz, which is the boarding newsletter produced three times per term.

Parking in Multi-Purpose Sport Complex area

Could I please remind parents not to park in the setdown/pickup bays outside the Multi-Purpose Sport Complex.  It is frustrating for parents who arrive to collect their children who are waiting and they are unable to pull into the bay.  This also causes some safety issues with students having to walk across the carpark to cars when parents are unable to use the bays.

Paris Tour 2024

I am delighted to announce that the school is planning a student tour to Paris in 2024. Our first international cultural tour in a number of years.  Initial planning is for a ten-day tour of Paris exploring the City of Lights, this tour is sure to offer a wonderful cultural experience and introduction to European travel.

Under the direction of the Head of the Arts, Ms Rachel Mordy, the proposed tour will include a visit to Mont St Michel, Moulin Rouge Feerie Show, Catacombs, a boat ride down the River Seine, bike riding tour of both the Palace of Versailles and Monet’s Gardens. The aim is to visit key galleries including the Louvre, Musée D’Orsay, Musée de l’Orangerie, The Picasso Museum, The Pompidou. We will visit Sacré Coeur, the Eiffel Tower and join a gourmet walking tour of Paris. It will be an amazing tour full of history, arts and culture!  This tour is open to students currently in Years Eight, Nine or Ten and is scheduled over the April school holidays in 2024, departing 31 March 2024.

An information session will be held on Wednesday 26 April from 3.30pm to  4.30pm in the school Library and via Microsoft Teams.
