Prayer and Reflection 

In Australia, today is the last day of the financial year. It’s the time when people start to get their tax returns ready and those with investments start to consider how healthy or otherwise they may have been. 

St Teresa of Avila had the knack of using images of ordinary life to explain the ways of God. Some of her images were drawn from finance. She speaks to the situation of people who may feel that they have invested a lot of themselves in their faith journey and wonder what kind of return they may receive on their investment. She has no doubt that God’s returns always exceed market expectations. If we invest in sound friendships, appreciate those who respect our value… we will always come out on top.
