Year 10

What is the subject about?

IMPACT (Inspiring Musicians, Performers and Artist to Create Together)

This is a year long elective

Students who choose IMPACT must select another Art elective over a semester.

IMPACT strives to provide our students with opportunities to explore a rich arts education with creative classes in music, drama, dance, media, visual Arts, and visual communication design, taught by experts in an Arts field. The particulars of the program, and carer pathways we investigate, will be driven by student voice and will change according to the students participating.

Through Year 10 IMPACT, we will strive to further inspire students to hold the arts in the highest regard, and to be actively involved in their education through creative inquiry and embracing ideas together and exploring pathways that will lead into VCE arts subjects.

Skills you will develop

To look beyond themselves and explore diverse pathways in the Arts
To develop and discover skills in the arts which guide students to discover more about themselves and are outside their comfort zone.
Develop note taking and journal skills in reflecting on a diverse range of Arts pathways

Presentations based around selected pathway visiting staff

Pathways

Studying IMPACT can introduce you to many diverse career choices. These are a few examples of possible careers:

Animator
Book Illustrator
Costume & Fashion designer
Music, Drama, Dance, Arts Therapist
Graphic Designer

There is a possible opportunity for an elective Melbourne Arts Camp at the conclusion of the course

Why you should do this elective

Impact is a fun way to be creative and use your ideas to create amazing things. Impact gives students lots of experiences, for example In Impact you get opportunities to see live Musicals, go on amazing camps and participate in great activities in the classroom.

IMPACT gives shy students like myself a chance to open up and be creative and bring you out of your shell and gives you the chance to try all different types of things. plus Miss Baulch is an amazing teacher. Participating in impact is a fantastic why to go Shelby

Over the course being a part of IMPACT has been a positive experience. For instance we are able to go on exciting excursions, such as, "& Juliet" live performance, Circus/Melbourne Polytechnic Tafe Prahran Campus, and etc. The work we studied was related to the arts which we as a group chose to do on whether it would be playing instruments or doing Special effects makeup. To have a voice on what I wanted to do in the arts area is something I love, along with a supportive teacher is fantastic in many ways.
