Year 7 Writing Workshops

Developing personal narrative storytelling skills

There was a buzz around the GCC on Monday 8 May when the TakeOver Melbourne Team from the ABC presented writing workshops to 150 Year 7 students who attended the sessions. This was a terrific opportunity for English students to experience working with people who are writers in the Industry. 

Takeover Melbourne is a storytelling competition for young people living, working and/or learning in Melbourne. The competition is for High school aged (12-18 years old) young people. To enter the competition, students write a true story about themselves of approximately 400 words or a 1-2 minute audio or video. Winning entries may be produced  into sound recordings or short films and students whose entries are chosen, are offered a place in a leadership program with a broad range of students from various locations across Melbourne.  

Good luck with your stories Year 7. Entries are open until 25th June 2023.
