Year 7 Baseballers
Well done to all of our Cross Country runners who competed in the Divisional Competition at Bundoora Park on May 15. Once again Northcote was the largest team, with many of our students qualifying to move through to the Regional Event which is on 14 June at Kilmore Racing Track. Due to low numbers in the older age groups, any of our students who signed up that were in the 16 and above age groups did not have to compete at Divisional level, they have automatically progressed to the Regional Competition.
The Netball Tournament was a huge success with 120 students from year 7-10 converging on Narrandjeri Stadium for a day of back to back grading matches to decide who would be representing the school at divisional sport. The day was a huge success and could not have happened with out outstanding leadership and umpiring from Millie Collodetti, Lily Holehouse, Ben Holehouse and Sasha Rofe. We were even luck enough to have Luke Williams a NHS Alumnus return to impart his knowledge and expertise. We wish all who were selected the best of luck in the next round.
Twelve of our Year 7 baseballers recently travelled to Mill Park to compete against 4 other schools in the regional round of the competition. In Round 1 we had a bye and our students played a modified match on their own. In round 2 despite the cold, windy and wet weather we took to the field against Richmond High. Louis Spencer was pitching, striking out three of their batters in the first innings. Albert Hubbard our catcher was doing a fine job catching each batter out on strike 3. After breaks for heavy rain we batted making two early home runs. As our inning continued we moved to having our bases loaded - meaning we had players(runners) on each of the three bases. Louis came out to bat hitting a ball deep into the outfield. Our three bases sprinted around the diamond all making it home. Louis followed almost making it home before being tagged out on the home plate. Our excitement was spoiled as the rain got heavier and the day was eventually cancelled. The day will now have to be rescheduled. Although this is a shame our students certainly had a great day and gained valuable experience. Despite the boys getting wet and cold they were in fine spirits and look forward to another venture to the diamond in the future.

Congratulations to our Senior Table Tennis team who recently competed in the Divisional Competition. Our boys easily won against Thornbury and Lalor to win the day overall and to now advance through to the Regional Competition which is to be held next term on July 19.
Diwash, Ivan, Deeva, Ivan & Kelly entered into the Senior Badminton as a mixed team due to some last minute injuries not allowing Northcote to put forward both a boys and girls team. Despite the last minute change, the students still played well and enjoyed their time at sport. Although we only won one of the two matches, the Northcote team put in their best effort throughout the duration and showed fantastic sportspersonship.
The Senior Girls AFL team did well to win the Divisional competition at CT Barling Reserve on 8 May. With only 16 players for the day, Northcote was outnumbered but not outclassed. The team won the first game vs SEDA, 3.5.35 to 2.1.13. Goals: Phoebe H, Zoe H, Ness C-H, Vic G and Martina Z. The second game vs Thornbury was another win, 5.6. 36 to 1.2. 8. Goals: 2 Martina, Hannah, Zoe, Minke.
