DRESS-UP DAY!

PYJAMA, ONESIE, OODIE AND UGG DAY!

WEDNESDAY 24th MAY

ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime 2020 | Australian Library and Information Association

National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) is held annually by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Every year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in libraries, schools, pre-schools, family day cares, childcare centres, family homes, bookshops and many other places around the country. Now in its 23rd successful year, it is a colourful, vibrant, fun event that aims to promote the value of reading and literacy, using an Australian children's book that explores age-appropriate themes, and addresses key learning areas of the National Curriculum for Foundation to Year 6.

NSS aim to:

-promote the value of reading and literacy,

-promote the value and fun of books,

-promote an Australian writer and publisher,

-promote storytime activities in libraries and communities around the country,

-and provide opportunities to involve parents, grandparents, the media and others to participate in and enjoy the occasion.

BRIGHTON PRIMARY SCHOOL will be participating once again!

Together, with 2 million kids nationwide, we will be reading,

The Speedy Sloth by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie.

We are asking everyone to come to school in their pyjamas, onesie, oodie, uggs or running shoes and maybe even come looking like one of the animal characters from the book!

Be prepared!

Do you have a furry animal onesie?

Do you have an oodie?

Do you have pyjamas?

Do you have uggs?

Do you have fast shoes?

Great! Wear any of the above!

You decide . . .

Are you a sleepy sloth? OR

Are you a speedy sloth?

So stay in your jammies and come to school for a great read!

It will be another fun day at BPS!

Happy reading everyone!

Book of the Month - MAY !

FLIGHT SCHOOL

by Lita Judge

There is no stopping our little friend, Penguin!

He says, he was born to fly! That's absurd! Penguins can't fly!

Come and read the persistence of one bird and the quick thinking of another.

This is an adorable read of friendship and persistence ( with a little technical help).

You can do it!

This is another new read in the BPS Library.
