Creative Writing Competition

The Creative Writing Competition is open to all current primary and high school students in Australia.

Prizes: First prize: $5000. Second prize: $2000. Shortlist (x8): $500. Youth prize: $500.Theme: Open theme. This means that your story can be about anything you want. It can also be written in any genre. 

Length: Between 500 and 1500 words.  

Stories are being judged on two key things: 

CRAFT: Is your story well written and descriptive? Have you shown a strong command of language, structure, and vocabulary? Is it clear that you understand what key elements go into making a good story?

IDEA: How original and unique is your idea? Has your story got something interesting to share? Does it affect the reader emotionally? Does your story grab the reader and make them want to read more?

Buses replace trains on the Sandringham Line – 29 May to 4 June 2023

From 8.15pm Tuesday 29 May until last service Sunday 4 June, buses will replace trains on the Sandringham line between Parliament and Sandringham stations. 

During this time please allow an extra 60 minutes for your journey, noting that it may be busier during peak times.
