IMPORTANT INFORMATION
FOR SACRED HEART FAMILIES
Book Fair
This year's Book Fair will run in Week 3 from Monday 8th - Friday 12th May. You are welcome to visit the Book Fair in the Office between 8:30 - 8:50am and 2:45pm - 3:15pm.
Students will walk through the Book Fair with their teacher on Friday 5th May. During this walk through students will complete a Wish list which will then be sent home.
Payments can be made in two ways;
- You can visit the Book Fair, or
- If you are unable to attend you can pay online at www.scholatic.com.au/payment. After you have paid online you will be given an 8 digit receipt number. You will need to write the receipt number on the back of the wish list with your details. Then your child will bring the wish list back to school. When your child brings the wishlist to the Book Fair, they will then be given the wishlist in return. Please make sure it is clear which books you have ordered as you may not wish to order all the books in the wishlist.
If you order online and we don’t receive the wishlist we will not know the payment has been made and we will be unable to fulfil the order.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the school. All purchases that are made benefit the school!
Book Fair Competition
To celebrate the Book Fair there will be a colouring in competition for students in K-2 and a design a book cover competition for students in 3-6. Book vouchers for the fair will be given to 1st & 2nd in each Stage level. The colouring-in template for K-2 students was sent home with students last Friday.
For the design a book cover competition students in 3-6 will either create a book cover for a piece of their own writing or redesign an existing book cover. This is to be done on an A4 piece of paper.
Entries for both the colouring in competition and design a book cover competition are due on Thursday 4th May.
International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)
This term ICAS will be offered to Years 3-6 students. ICAS are independent assessments based on curricula and students are asked to demonstrate a deeper, integrated and thorough level of knowledge for each test. The following tests are being offered: English, Maths, Spelling Bee, Writing, Science and Digital Technology.
For those who are interested in enrolling their child in any of these assessments, a code will be provided by the school in the coming weeks and parents will then need to enrol their child online.
PREMIER'S READING CHALLENGE
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has begun and students in K-6 were sent home with their login details and a personal reading log.
Students are able to log their books from home via the Premier’s Reading Challenge website (link below) however if students require assistance logging their books they are able to visit Miss Morrissey in the library during Wednesday and Thursday lunchtimes.
While the competition is optional for students to participate in, all students are encouraged to log any books they have read. Books which K-2 read in class will also be logged for students. We wish students all the best with the challenge and if there are any issues or questions please do not hesitate to contact Miss Morrissey.
