Principal’s Message

Mrs Katherine Baird

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to Sacred Heart for the beginning of Term 2. This term will see our students participate in many exciting opportunities.

Firstly, congratulations to our PP5 swimming team who swam courageously in Sydney during the last week of Term 1. Coming fourth in the State is a mighty effort. Thank you to Mrs Goddard and the parents for their tireless efforts with the PP5 relay team.

It was great to see so many SHS students representing our school at the ANZAC Day commemoration last week. I received many compliments about how our students represented our school with pride.

This Wednesday we will be holding our Cross Country event at Jubilee Oval. We look forward to welcoming parents and friends to the oval to cheer on Sacred Heart. The cross country events will commence at 11:45am. All families are welcome to have a picnic lunch back at school after the conclusion of the cross country and for the presentation. Please ensure you have signed the permission form on Compass before Wednesday morning.

For students in Year 6 there will be a Parent Information evening at St Mary's College on Tuesday 9 May from 6-7pm. This is a great opportunity to meet other students and parents of Year 7 for 2024.

With the commencement of Term 2, there will be the change over from summer to winter uniform. There will be a transition period between the two uniforms according to the weather for the first four weeks of Term 2. During this transition period students are either to wear their summer uniform or their winter uniform but not a combination of the two. Please remember that sports jackets are only to be worn with the sports uniform and the officianavy jumper is to be worn with the formal school uniform.

Transition for 2024 commenced last Thursday and we were very happy to welcome our new Kindergarten students for next year.

If you know of anyone wishing to enrol their child for 2024 and participate in the transition program this year, please let me know. Program details and enrolment forms are available by contacting Ms Traynor in the Office.

If you know of anyone who is intending to enrol at Sacred Heart either in Kindergarten or any other year group for 2023, please encourage them to contact me at school.

Happy birthday to Mrs Rees who celebrated her birthday on Friday the 14th of April, Ms Traynor who celebrated her birthday on the 22nd of April, Lachie who celebrated his 9th birthday on the 29th of April and to Mrs Slack-Smith who celebrates her birthday on the 4th of May. We hope you have a great day!

Take care,

Kath Baird
