From the   Principal's

Desk

Janine Kinninment

Congratulations to the Burrendah P&C and the school community for raising $8662 in the

P&C Colour Explosion which was held in the last week of Term 1. Mrs Bree Sherston, coordinator, and her team of volunteers did an amazing job making this such a successful event. Thank you to Board Chair Mr Brad Warburton for the great photo of the Year 6 students at the event.

The P&C’s next fundraising event is tonight. The Outdoor Movie Night commences at 6:00pm- see details in the newsletter for more details.

Basketball practice area

The area between the oval and the senior classrooms has been upgraded. The old uneven pavers have been removed. We have reinstalled the 2011 Year 7 gift to the school, a basketball stand, and concreted the area to make it safer to use as a basketball practice area. Thank you to the P&C who provided approximately $10 000 for this upgrade.

New Undercover Area

The new undercover area is still ahead of schedule. It is hoped that this build will be completed in the next month.  The half-court basketball court next to the new undercover area will be upgraded shortly.

Staffing update

There will be some changes to the Administration team this term.

  •  Ms Annie Leece will be on leave from Week 5 for the rest of this term. Ms Cecilia Tascon will be the Manager of Corporate Services during this time.
  •  Mr Ellis and Mrs Bain will continue to share the senior PE role while Mr Crouch is on leave for the term.
  • Mrs Bell will be working in the EALD team while Mrs Clark has long service leave for 5 weeks during the term.

On Entry

Parents/Carers had the opportunity to attend an On Entry workshop earlier this week. Ms Sutherland explained this Department of Education assessment that is mandated for all pre-primary students in the state. Year 1 can also be assessed. Parents were able to take the results of these assessment home on the day. For families who were unable to attend results were sent home.

School Sports Shirts

Our new school sports shirts have arrived and look fabulous. Our first event in wearing these shirts will be in the Year 5/6 Interschool Carnival in Week 8.
