Year 9 News

By Mr Pugh - Year 9 Year Level Lead

The 2023, Year 9 School Year has started with a bang! A massive term of learning, connecting and immersing ourselves within our learning community. The new school year came with a brand-new space for the Year 9s in A Block. Completely renovated and jam-packed with technology, the classrooms have everything our students need to succeed. The new year has also seen the introduction of Connect, a program designed to provide students with life skills, resilience, empathy and a love for lifelong challenge and learning.

The term has seen an extensive array of engaging curriculum and work that all students should be proud of. From sessions with parliament members to designing and 3D printing electronics cases, the spread of learning opportunities has been exciting to see! The engagement in classes and collaboration within learning has been motivational to see, driving all staff to continue to challenge and support all of our learners.

The College’s ‘Welcome to Country’ assembly coincided with a visit from an inspiring Indigenous Australian storyteller and performer, Scott Darlow. Both of these experiences opened up the Year 9 cohort to new knowledge of country and history of the land we live, work and learn. These sessions continued into the classroom, and will extend into the community as we progress into Term 2. Scott gave the cohort some amazing feedback, stating that their respect, thoughtful questioning and desire to learn was inspirational.

Coming into Term 2, we can expect to see our Year 9 students out and about, connecting with community and exploring passion projects in the city. We have more quests coming in and some unmatched opportunities up for grabs! We in the Year 9 team are excited to see what else Term 2 has to offer, and we hope you are too.
