PnC News

Welcome our new PnC committee for 2023

At our last PnC meeting we voted in our 2023 committee. Congratulations to the following parents & carers at MPS:

Luella Charles elected as President

Gary Shaw re-elected as Treasurer

Tess McCabe re-elected as Communications rep

Adele Shelley re-elected as Secretary

We also welcome Mickaela Glass as the School Council rep on the PnC committee.

A big thank you to Rebecca Ostberg, our outgoing President, for her hard work in 2022-23. She remains a committee member on the PnC – which we are grateful for!

We also really appreciate our regular PnC helpers who take the time to join us at meetings and volunteer with our fundraising efforts: Andrew Hudson, Tamie Jones, Bridget Couper, Lee Cath, Cody Moore, Emma Heller, Wes Pryor, Tom Ryan, Amnah Rabi, Jacqui Thurgood, Dan Wright, George Kotridis, Pete Shelley, Gary Thurgood, Maja Brkic. (Apologies if we have missed anyone!)

Mother’s Day events

On Friday 12 May we are celebrating mums, grandmothers, and all mum-like people at our Mother's Day events.

8am–9.30: Mother's Day breakfast9am-3pm: Mother's Day stall for students3pm: Raffle hamper winners announced

At MPS we offer a range of gifts that students can buy to celebrate the special women in their lives on Mother's Day. Prices start at $1 and students will be taken class by class to visit the stall during the school day.

A huge thank you to our Marri Crafters group of parents who have been making some beautiful wares for sale at the gift stall, including jewellery, pot plants, accessories, handwarmers, bookmarks, and more! And special shout-out to Becs and Tamie for coordinating the stall and gift hampers.

We are also selling tickets to our famous Mother's Day hamper raffle! A big thanks to those who donated generously to the hamper prixes. Please check your child's school bag for tickets (and don't forget to add your name and phone number to tickets!). Please return tickets and money to the office by 11 May.

Who Gives a Crap bulk buy result

Our Who Gives a Crap bulk-buy co-op in term 1 raised $845.56 for our school. Thanks to all who ordered!

Next PnC meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 9 May, 7-8pm in the school staff room.

All parents & carers are invited to attend.

The meeting will be held in the School Staff Room (entry via the office), or you can watch online via Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/jxh-aiji-hrp

If there is anything you would like to add to the agenda (feedback, event suggestions, etc) please email morelandps.pnc@gmail.com.

Communication about PnC events

The PnC promotes its events via the WhatsApp and Facebook groups, posters around the school, in the newsletter, and via Compass. Not all school events are run by the PnC and all communication for PnC events is done by parent volunteers.

WhatsApp and Facebook groups

The PnC facilitates WhatsApp groups for grade levels, and a Facebook Group for the whole school community, to help connect our community online. There is also a private Facebook Group for parents and carers of neurodiverse students.

These groups are run by parents and not affiliated or overseen by the school or its leadership. You can view the terms of these groups here: https://tinyurl.com/4699e963

If you would like to join the Facebook Group or your child’s year level WhatsApp group, please SMS Tess on 0419280282.

As always, we recognise that not all parents and carers have the capacity to volunteer or donate to our fundraising efforts. We welcome all efforts, not matter how small. If you are interested in helping our school in a way that suits you, or you have a fundraising or social event idea, you can email us any time at morelandps.pnc@gmail.com
