Business as Usual During COVID-19

Welcome back to Term 3. Although the global situation continues to affect us, I am very pleased that the Senior School operations are continuing as normal; albeit with some changes to the way programs are delivered.

Year 11 2021 Transition

The Year 11 2021 Information Evening and VCAL 2021 Information Evening were conducted online and were extremely well attended this year. The presentation from the Year 11 2021 evening can be viewed online through the following new link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY22ZZqjpYg

Year 10 student transition interviews with Heads of House have been completed via Zoom. Heads of House were very pleased with the level of preparation of students for these interviews and the student body deserves congratulations for their engagement. Careers staff are working through extended follow-up interviews via Zoom.

On Monday 27 July, Year 10 students will have an online Assembly where they will be given information and instructions for the online subject choice process; students should look out for the My Aitken task and link to this Assembly.

Study Skills

The Study Skills program with Elevate Education will continue this term. Next Tuesday 28 July, Year 11 students will have their second session for the year, conducted via Zoom by an Elevate presenter. Year 10 students will have their Study Skills program delivered by College staff, through the Elevate website during a series of Assemblies over the next month.

Face Masks

I thank and congratulate the Year 11 and Year 12 students for their understanding and compliance with the requirement to wear a face mask. I understand the inconvenience of this requirement; however, it is important that every one of us does our bit to stop the spread of COVID-19 and care for the health of our community.

Some students have been using scarfs that can be pulled up to cover the face this week. As of Monday 27 July, we will need all students to have a fitted face mask. While these pull-up scarfs have sufficed as a temporary measure, they do not provide the same level of protection as a purpose-designed face mask.
