Parent Teacher Interviews

Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for Tuesday 4 August (concluding at 6.00pm) and Thursday 13 August (concluding at 8.00pm). On each of these evenings, interviews will commence at 3.30pm for parents of children in Prep to Year 6 and from 4.00pm for those in Year 7 to Year 12.

This year, we will be conducting interviews via Zoom, in order to comply with the current Victorian Government regulations around social distancing. While we are confident that this approach should work well, it will be the first time we use Zoom on such a scale and for so many individual interviews. We are putting some technical support in place so that we can address any problems that arise for participants during the interview evenings. We ask that parents and guardians be patient if problems do occur.

Interview bookings open at 4.00pm on Monday 27 July and are made through the Community Portal, as usual. Full details of how to use the booking system and how to access the Zoom appointments will be emailed to all parents and guardians on Monday. A schedule of your interviews can be printed from the portal after you have made your appointments. Links to the Zoom meetings for each teacher will be available via a My Aitken page on the interview days, and will be published to families via direct email. When scheduling your appointments, we recommend that you leave a gap between each interview booking to allow for teachers who may, despite their best efforts, fall slightly behind schedule.

2021 Subject Selection for Students in Year 7 to Year 11

Students in Years 7 to 11 will all be required to choose their elective subjects for 2021 in the coming weeks, using an online portal. Information about subject options and requirements, and the process for accessing and using the online portal will be emailed to parents and students in due course.

Please take the time to discuss your child’s choices with him or her. One of the most important factors to consider is that academic success is most easily obtained when students are studying subjects they enjoy and feel passionate about. Please encourage your child to follow his or her areas of interest when considering their 2021 program.

It’s not unusual for students to feel overwhelmed when faced with making decisions about their future. If you or your child would like some extra help with the decision making, please contact the relevant Assistant Head of School (for Dunhelen students), Head of House (for Brookhill students), or our very obliging and well-informed Careers staff. Emails to admin@aitkencollege.edu.au will be directed to the relevant staff member.

The portal for subject choices will be open during the following dates:

  • Years 10 & 11:      3 - 7 August
  • Year 7, 8 & 9:      10 - 17 August
