Principal's Message

                                                                     Mrs Josie Crisara

Welcome

Welcome back to Term 3. We know just how much students value and appreciate the opportunity for face-to-face learning. We welcomed the return of Year 11 and Year 12 students to on-site learning although the remainder of the students are back to remote learning. This can test the patience and resilience of all in the community but it does show in times of adversity just how we can work together to keep our community safe and support each other in these COVID times. Remember we do have lots for which we should be grateful as we do live in the Lucky Country.

Year 10 Careers Panel and VCE and VCAL Information Evenings

Last week a number of Alumni students presented to our Year 10 students (via Zoom and Video) to discuss their study program during VCE and VCAL and then their pathways through TAFE, University and the world of work. Their insights and words of encouragement have hopefully provided students with an understanding of how they have control of the path they will follow and the importance of making the best of the opportunities they have. Thank you to the many parents who joined the Zoom meetings covering the VCE and VCAL and information sessions.  This was a good opportunity to gain an understanding of both pathway options for students and to ask questions. As many tertiary options these days provide for students to submit applications with supporting evidence of suitability to study particular courses, students are encouraged to contribute to extra-curricular programs, volunteer, and be involved in clubs and organisations to broaden their skills and experiences.

Hardship

At times where we may find ourselves disconnected, it is important that the communication lines are open.  As previously advised, the College Board has committed to supporting those families in our community who are suffering significant hardship, particularly those where both parents have lost jobs or families where there has been a significant drop in income as they work in small business. It has been so heartening to receive positive feedback from families for this initiative as there is an understanding that families are impacted in different ways.  Our teachers and support staff have been working extremely hard in order to support the delivery of educational programs to students remotely and your support as parents has been so encouraging. Any families facing hardship are requested to contact the Finance Manager, Mr Petar Gajic.

Notice of Intent - 2021

The Registrar has emailed all families with the 'Notice of Intent - 2021' regarding continuing enrolment. This year we are using an electronic form submission process. Please ensure you respond by the due date to allow for the College to plan for 2021.

Building Projects

During the term break, some of the existing Cumberland buildings were demolished in preparation for construction of the new building to commence in 2021.  Completion of the installation of the temporary classroom for Years 4 to 6 has also occurred with landscaping almost finished, ready for use when students return to on-site learning.  The "Village" feel has been maintained in this area.
