Staff Spotlight

Let's hear it from Nikolina Cupac!

In 2016, I started teaching at Fairvale High School  (right after my second prac teaching placement) and shortly after called Cecil Hills High School 'home'.   I started teaching at Cecil Hills High School in Term 3, 2017.  I teach English, however, I am also qualified to teach History.

My roles and what they entail

I am one of the Year 9 Advisers and work closely with my cohort around their wellbeing. It is something I have always had a passion for and something I am so grateful to be doing. I also coordinate Public Speaking within the English faculty and have been doing this for some time now. It's awesome to see students in a different light, passionately speaking about topics/issues that interest them.

Other schools I taught at

After I finished my final practical placement at Fairvale High School, I had a few teaching blocks in History.

The school I attended

I went to Liverpool Girls High School -  The Graduating Class of 2011!

What I like to do when I am not working

I enjoy being out and about, spending time with my friends and family. During the lockdown period, I went through a phase of really enjoying long walks around the block, however, I can safely say that was very short lived!

My favourite sporting teams and pastimes

Funnily enough... I played basketball when I was younger for about six years but wouldn't be able to tell you the name of a single team. I suppose, when it comes to sports... I would have to say, I am a big tennis supporter #TeamDjokovic.

My favourite quote

"Life imposes things on you that you can't control, but you still have the choice of how you're going to live through this"   Celine Dion.

I think the mind is really something!  The reason I love this quote so much is it reminds us that we cannot control everything but we can always control how we react to it.

Movies!

I'm more of a Netflix/Stan TV series type of gal! But, if I had to choose a movie... Harry Potter (all of Harry Potter)!

How I define success?

Waking up happy every day and loving what you do, where you are and who you are surrounded by!

My advice to students

You are the main character in your life. Never give up on yourself and always strive for the best! Surround yourself with people who make you happy and bring out the best version of you. N o matter the struggles, there is always a brighter day!  Stay forever smiling!

If given a chance, who I would like to be for a day

This is a tough one!  ANYBODY with a great singing voice. Those who really know me, know that I have the biggest love for singing but also have the worst voice (I'm sorry English faculty, for the years of this you have endured), so I would have to say... literally ANYBODY who can sing!

If Hollywood made a movie about me, who would you like to see cast as you?

Definitely Jennifer Aniston!

Fun fact

I came to Australia in 1995 (just after my First birthday) and didn't know how to speak a word of English until I was about 7 years old. You could say Kindergarten and Year 1 were quite difficult for everyone!
