Harmony Day

On Monday March 21, the students of St. Bridget’s celebrated Harmony Day. This was a special day dedicated to raising awareness for diversity and inclusion. This is a very important day to make everyone feel like they belong regardless of their background. It is about celebrating Australia’s multiculturalism and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Although this is a day where we make everyone feel welcome and included, we need to make a conscious effort to make people feel welcome everyday.

To celebrate this day, the Student Representative Council (SRC) organised an event where the students could wear casual clothes with a splash of orange to represent Harmony Day. The SRC also asked students to donate one hygiene product that would be collected and donated to St Mary's House of Welcome as part of our Mini Vinnies Team and the St Vincent de Paul Society. We were overwhelmed with the generosity from each and every student and family. See below a photo of the amazing collection from St. Bridget’s community.

Everyone looked fantastic in their orange clothes and it was great to see every child getting invested in this special day. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Day. It is a colour that traditionally signifies social communication, freedom of ideas, and mutual respect. By wearing orange, the children showed their support of Harmony Day and of diversity.

Kind Regards
