From the Principal

It is hard to believe that we are heading into the final week of Term 1! It has been a jam packed term and all our kids have been very fortunate to have been involved in a range of highly engaging year level and whole school events.

Whole School Colour Explosion

What an event this was for so many different reasons. It was an opportunity to bring the whole school community together. It was an opportunity for all our students to have some fun. It was an opportunity for us to welcome parents back on site to help out and spectate. We thank all our families for supporting this event. All money raised from this event will go towards updating our take home reader library.

Foundation BBQ

For the first time in three years we were able to run our Foundation BBQ. This event served as an important way to officially welcome our new Foundation families to the Langy Park community and for them to establish new relationships with other parents.

Parent Class Reps

We met with our 2022 parent class reps late last week. They will serve an important role in connecting and re-connecting parents this year. They will work closely with the Principal team and Kate Mowat to identify different ways we can strengthen the relationship/friendships between parents/carers across the school.

Our parent class reps will also work closely with the class teacher to ensure there are strong and clear communication links between home and school.

2022 School Council

At our most recent school council meeting we elected the following office bearers. I would like to thank and congratulate the following parent members who were elected:

School Council President:

Mrs Melanie Schmidt

School Council Vice President:

Mrs Julie Denham

Treasurer:

Mr Craig Ryan

Our School Council do very important work, particularly in regards to the Governance of our school. I thank all the parent and teacher members who generously give up their time to be members on council.

At this meeting I presented our school's 2021 Annual Report. A copy of this report can be found on our school's website.

Parent Helpers in the Classroom

Kym Gilchrist and Deb Haddow will be running a Classroom Helpers Program very early in Term 2 so we are able to re-commence parents listening to kids read at school. We want to ensure that all parent helpers are providing the best possible support for all our students. Stay tuned for further information regarding this.

Term 2 Whole School Focus

In Term 2 we will continue to focus on our core priorities of Teaching and Learning and Wellbeing.

Pool Car Park and Student Safety

Just a reminder that the pool car park is not a permitted drop off and pick up point for students. This car park is for only school staff and parents using the King Swim Centre.

Also, we have received notification from parents of some near misses with students who walk home independently. If your kids walk home by themselves, please remind them of the importance of crossing roads at pedestrian crossings and traffic lights.

Communication with Teachers

We have a range of communication methods that are used between home and school. Our two main methods are via Class Dojo messaging and email.

When sending an email or message to your child's teacher, they will respond at their earliest convenience and on most occasions will be within 24 hours of the message being sent. They will respond to your communications within work hours (8.30am-4.30pm Monday-Friday). Please do not expect teachers to respond outside of these times.

If there is something urgent that needs to be communicated with your child's teacher, please ring the school office on 9775 7533.

Last Day of Term 1

For your reference, the last day of Term 1 is next Friday (8th April). School finishing time will be 2.30pm. We will be doing an end of term assembly at 11.15am and will notify you of the livestream link on Dojo next week.

On behalf of all our school staff, I would like to thank everyone in the Langy Park Primary School community for their support across Term 1. It has been fantastic that we have been able to have an uninterrupted run this term and it has provided us all with the opportunity to regain 'match fitness' and re-connect.

Have a great last week everyone!

Richard
