Child Safe Standards Policy

The Camelot Rise Primary School ‘Child Safe’ policy describes the decision-making processes we use to support the care, safety and wellbeing of each student. These must reflect the Child Safe Standards, established through Ministerial Order 870.

The policy is available for parents to access through our school website.

At Camelot Rise Primary School, we have a zero tolerance of child abuse. Our policy applies to all members of the Camelot Rise Primary School community and is inclusive of all school related activities, processes, and procedures.

Every adult involved in Camelot Rise Primary School has a responsibility to understand the important and specific role he/she plays individually and collectively to ensure that the wellbeing and safety of all children and young people is at the forefront of every decision we make.

I encourage all community members to read the policy to ensure knowledge of these requirements.

Harmony Week

This week is Harmony Week, and this is a great opportunity to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity.

Many of the classes have been doing activities during their wellbeing sessions based around this theme.

NAPLAN Online in 2022

This year all schools will complete their NAPLAN assessments online. Thanks to Ben Heys, Simon Judkins, Chris Young, Linda Bett and John Kovas (ICT Tech) who have put in an enormous amount of work to ensure that all students at Camelot Rise PS will have access to suitable devices and all connections are working perfectly.

Federal, state and territory education ministers agreed that all schools will gradually transition from the current paper-based tests to the computer-based assessments, with the aim for all schools to undertake NAPLAN online by 2022.

NAPLAN Online provides a better assessment, more precise results and is more engaging for students. The assessments can run through a real-time internet connection or onscreen without an internet connection. Watch the short clip: Understanding NAPLAN Online (2 min 11s).

NAPLAN Online is a tailored test that adapts to student responses, presenting students with questions that may be more or less difficult – resulting in better assessment and more precise results. Watch the Tailored testing video (3 min 6s).

Significant planning, development, research, and trialling have been carried out to make sure we are all ready to move NAPLAN online. In its first year of transition in 2018, just over 15 per cent of schools participated in NAPLAN Online. In 2019, the number rose to over 50%. Feedback about the online test has been positive, with students saying they find the format engaging.

State/territory education authorities make decisions about the logistics and timing to move NAPLAN online for their state/territory. These organisations also lead implementation of NAPLAN Online in their state/territory.

Playgroup at Camelot Rise

Over the last two years we have been trying to launch our 3 & 4 Year-Old Playgroup. This has proved very difficult due to extended periods of lockdown and remote learning. Fortunately, we have been able to start this program this year and it is going from strength to strength.

Jo Hewett (Education Support Office) has done an amazing planning, designing, and developing our playgroup.

What started originally with 2 families has now grown to over 16 families regularly attending each week and we know this number will grow over time. This is a great result!

The purpose of this playgroup is to provide a venue for families to come with their children to develop community links, social interaction with other children and potentially increase student numbers at Camelot Rise PS.

We are thrilled with the work Jo is doing in this area!

Please come along with your 3 / 4-year-old every Wednesday between 9:30 – 10:30am.

Congratulations Jo!
