Principal's Report
We have come to the end of an exciting and busy first term at Monash SDS and a full term of on-site learning since 2019. On behalf of the Principal team, I would like to congratulate everyone on a very successful term 1 as we have navigated some challenges due to COVID, isolation requirements and staffing matters.
Term one has seen our capital works begin on-site, swimming program re commence and many wellbeing activities for our students, staff and school community.
This last week of term has seen some wonderful celebrations leading into the Easter holidays with an Easter raffle and Easter bonnet parade.
Staffing Update:
We would like to warmly welcome Siying Chua who will be the teacher in Group 18 commencing Term 2.
We will also be saying farewell to one of our speech therapists Joshlyn Tan and wish her the very best as she takes up a position in another school and Geng Li (IT) who is moving onto a new position.
Capital Works:
A big thank you for your patience and understanding with the new drop off and pick up arrangements we have in place during our capital works. The arrangements seem to be running smoothly and we will be constantly reviewing this to keep our school community safe during the construction stage of our works.
Covid Update:
The Victorian Government has announced it is extending the RAT screening program for the first 4 weeks of Term 2. Thank you to all students and families who have played their role in regularly testing – we know that hasn’t been easy.
The testing recommendations will remain the same next Term for students and staff with:
Specialist schools – recommended to test 5 days a week at home due to the higher risk of severe illness for medically vulnerable children.
RA tests will be sent home is students bags at the end of each week.
A reminder that the first day of Term 2 will be Tuesday 26th April.
Wishing all our school community happy holidays and a safe and restful break.
