Help Ukraine – ECP students’ initiative/Help Ukraine – studentská iniciativa ECP

Students of The English College in Prague are organising series of events in order to raise awareness and appeal to ECP students and other Czech and international schools about money collection for the People in Need organisation – SOS Ukraine. 

Studenti Anglického gymnázia v Praze pořádají několik akcí za účelem zvýšit povědomí a apelovat na studenty ECP a další české i mezinárodní školy ohledně charitativní sbírky na podporu výzvy organizace Člověk v tísni – SOS Ukrajina.

Ukrainian students have joined ECP/Anglické gymnázium přijalo ukrajinské studenty

The English College in Prague has now offered places to 15 students who have recently arrived in the Czech Republic from Ukraine. These students have joined Years 1-4 as part of free temporary attendance. 

We will be working closely with these students and their families over the coming weeks to ensure that they have a positive educational experience at the English College. As we move towards the summer, where necessary we will look at what long-term support we can give to our new students. 

Anglické gymnázium nabídlo místa 15 studentům, kteří nedávno přijeli do České republiky z Ukrajiny.

Tito studenti navštěvují 1.-4. ročník školy v rámci dočasné bezplatné docházky.

S ukrajinskými studenty a jejich rodinami budeme v nadcházejících týdnech úzce spolupracovat, abychom zajistili jejich pozitivní zkušenost se vzděláváním v Anglickém gymnáziu. Během letního trimestru vyhodnotíme, jakou dlouhodobou podporu můžeme našim novým studentům poskytnout.

Supporting Ukraine/Podpora Ukrajině

Students from the Ukraine fundraising team held an assembly for students to inform them of how they can help and to warn against fake news by stating some examples of the extremism of Russian disinformation, as Putin wages war on information and truth. 

Some ECP students attended a debate organised by Člověk v tísni on the topic of the war in Ukraine. Here are the main takeaways from the debate.

• It is important to see how brave and unified Ukrainians are
• We have to realise, that this is something real that we have ignored 
• We have to offer long-term aid to Ukraine and its people
• We have to make sure, that Russians are treated well
  • They are not Putin, this is not their fault
• Anyone who supports the invasion should be punished
• We have to endure discomfort, such as higher fuel prices

WE SHOULD STAND WITH UKRAINE AND SUPPORT IT AND ITS PEOPLE AS MUCH AS WE CAN

Studenti z fundraisingového týmu pro Ukrajinu uspořádali shromáždění pro studenty, kde je informovali o tom, jak mohou pomoci, a varovali před falešnými zprávami. Uvedli několik příkladů extremismu ruských dezinformací, které se objevují v rámci Putinovy války s informacemi a pravdou.

Někteří studenti ECP se zúčastnili debaty pořádané organizací Člověk v tísni na téma války na Ukrajině. Zde jsou hlavní poznatky z debaty.

• Je důležité vidět, jak jsou Ukrajinci stateční a jednotní
• Musíme si uvědomit, že je to skutečné a doposud jsme to ignorovali
• Musíme Ukrajině a jejímu lidu nabídnout dlouhodobou pomoc
• Musíme se ujistit, aby se s Rusy dobře zacházelo
  - oni nejsou Putin a není to jejich chyba
• Každý, kdo podporuje invazi, by měl být potrestán
• Musíme se naučit snášet nepohodlí, jako jsou vyšší ceny pohonných hmot

During the assembly, Year 4 student Adéla Kloučková shared her experience of her family hosting Ukrainian refugees./Během shromáždění se studentka 4. ročníku Adéla Kloučková podělila o zkušenosti své rodiny s poskytnutím ubytování ukrajinským uprchlíkům.

The ECP has also established a buddy system for the support of Ukrainian children from refugee families. When students sign up to be buddies, they will hold regular meetings with their new Ukrainian friends, they can tutor them and organise social or sports activities with them.

ECP také zavedlo buddy systém (program kamarádství mezi Čechy a Ukrajinci) na podporu ukrajinských dětí z uprchlických rodin. Když se studenti do tohoto programu přihlásí, budou se pravidelně scházet se svými novými ukrajinskými přáteli, mohou je doučovat a organizovat pro ně společenské nebo sportovní aktivity.
