Reconciliation
Many of our Year 3 students celebrated their First Reconciliation last Wednesday night. The students all took part in the liturgy by reading, singing or being part of the gospel procession. They prepared beautifully and did a wonderful job. It was a very special and reverent liturgy. During the liturgy, the students all contributed a heart to our Reconciliation display. The Middles all wrote their thoughts about what reconciliation means on these hearts.
“Reconciliation means to be sorry and to never do it again.”
“Reconciliation means making others feel better.”
“Reconciliation means to be forgiven and starting over with friends.”
“Reconciliation means to forgive and forget.”
“Reconciliation means walking away to think about your actions.”
Thank you to the parents and families who joined us for this special night and helped to prepare the students. Thank you also to Fiona, Ms Kearney & Ms Carmel for making sure the night was a success.

BREAKING NEWS! STOPPING THE STREAK!
By Marisa, Maria, JT, Oliver, Willow & Parker
On 28th March 2022 at George Knott Reserve, a streak-stopping event took place. For ten continuous years, Simonds House of St Joseph’s had an ongoing winning streak on Sports Day. Who knew that the Mannix House would get a win for the history books?!
“It wasn’t very shocking, the green team made a clear comeback but it was surprising to see that we came third.” Says Phuong of Simonds house.
The events that made the participants tussle were the running and jumping activities such as the 200m sprint, the 100m sprint, long jump, hurdles, relay, and triple jump, making everybody pant and fall on their knees. Discus, javelin, and shot put were some of the activities that made you question your ability to throw.
The final scores came rolling in… In 4th place, Carr on 577 points, 3rd place, Simonds on 646 points, in 2nd place, Goold on 667 points and finally, the champions…. Mannix came 1st with 685 points. After 30 seconds of constant shrieking from Mannix House, the two house captains, Oliver and Elliot, walked out the front to collect the trophy Mannix house has been trying to win for the last 10 years!
“Congratulations Mannix!” Ms Kearney said happily.
Oliver Armstrong, Grade 6 student and Mannix house captain said: “It seems impossible until it’s done.”
Elliot was filling in for Mannix captain Elisa. Here are some words from Elliot about the day…“I just want to thank the other houses for their competitivness and their great spirit” - Elliot Becroft, 2022 substitute Mannix House Captain.
All teams played so well and everyone had such a great time. To all the parents and teachers who volunteered to help out, all the participants and readers thank you for making this day and this article possible.
Also another thanks to Mr Zammit for organising the whole day.
See you all in 2023!
