Principal's Report

PUPIL FREE DAY

Our next Pupil Free Day will be Thursday April 14th.

Staff will be working on site undertaking professional learning about how we can support, challenge and encourage our students to be Critical and Creative Thinkers.

Our DP Graham will lead us through the day.

Graham comes to Hampstead with rich experiences in working with students, using a design thinking process to solve problems and think “outside the square” using imagination and creativity.

Graham has begun working with our students using robotics and lego to manipulate robots to solve problems and navigate around tracks.

We now have a 3D printer in the school, along with a robotics table and several new lego sets for students to explore.

Graham will work with teachers on our pupil free day to demonstrate how we can all encourage our students to be design thinkers and problem solvers.

RIDE TO SCHOOL DAY

This was a huge success! Thank you to Sue Moroney and her staff team for the organization. Our Year 5/6 students set up the track and were very responsible “marshalls”.

All safety precautions were in place and every student looked like they thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to get some additional exercise during the day.

BUILDING REINSTATEMENT

Our new admin area is well under way. Part of the roof at the northern side has been removed and another slab is about to be poured.

Completion date is end of July – so we look forward to be moving into our new spaces during term 3.

No classes will need to be relocated.

STAFF UPDATE

A warm welcome to two new members to our staff team. Kimberly Butcher joins the learning support team. She will be working with individual and small groups of students to provide additional support where needed. Ivy Benbolt joins our Aboriginal Education team as our Aboriginal Community Education Officer. Ivy will be with us Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will be based in the Aboriginal Education Office in the West Wing alongside Carly Price.
