The Game Changers in Education-

At Lalor North we work very closely with our community to maximise positive outcomes for students. Principal, Tim Cottrell, and Assistant Principal Selen Atilla, join with Andrew Sturgess and Brendan Murray who are delivering outstanding professional development to all staff at the college. As this session was so interesting, we were joined by Adrian Konieczny from the Outer Northern Trade Training Centre (ONTTC).

Through the Passing of Time We Remember...

Visit from past staff member

In the last week of term we were privileged to have a visit from a past staff member

Tony Farry. Tony taught Maths in the 1980’s and finished at the college in 1991. Lalor North was a very different place then. The school had grown quickly leading to the addition of rows of portables classrooms. He commented on how nice our landscape gardens were and said Lalor North had always held a part of his heart. When asked what prompted his visit, he said he had thought about coming back, but wondered if there would be anyone who would remember him after such a long time. He was in the area and drew on his courage to visit. Very fitting given courage is one of our college values. Tony was given a tour of the college by Sharon Scopel who did remember him and was able to reminisce as they reflected on how the college had changed. Tony is a reminder that our history is rich and our community extends too many past staff and students.

BON VOYAGE TO ANNA

Dear Tim, Selen and all the wonderful staff at Lalor North.

Thank you so much for the wonderful flowers and birthday wishes.

This has been my home for many, many years. I have loved coming in every day and working with our students and their families.

I want to thank everyone that I have worked with. Working together is what achieves greatness and I am so glad to have had the opportunity of working with the best.

I know this is not goodbye but farewell for now.

I wish all of you the very best for the rest of the year.

END OF TERM 1 MESSAGE...

Wishing all in our learning community a restful term break

Dear Colleagues, Students and Families, Again, we have so much to be proud of this term. It was a great pleasure to be present end of term 7/8 assemblies today to witness the many certificates presented to students in general achievement and attendance. Students were so respectful and attentive despite feeling understandably quite weary at the end of a long term. Every single student should feel a sense of achievement, as they have all contributed to their community through their best efforts this term. Other assemblies reported a similarly celebratory atmosphere - thank you to students and staff for all your work in organising and contributing to these events.I was also able to speak to quite a few parents the parent-teacher conferences where many great educational discussions were shared, and achievements celebrated. Thank you to all parents who were able to be with us on this evening. Our Year 7 Information Evening - the 4th of the 4th - was a huge success with a great many families coming to see what we do, and to discover the warmth, friendliness, and creative high expectations present in our wonderful school. This date was actually the College's 37th Birthday, as we were officially opened by The Honourable Ian Cathie, Minister for Education, on this date in 1986. More students continue to enrol every week, adding to the vibrance and sense of community amongst our students. I wish to extend our warm wishes to Anna Cerritelli who, as something of an institution at Lalor North, has given so much to education and to our College. Anna leaves us for a year to take up a position at Parade College. We will miss Anna dearly but wish her the best for this new adventure. On behalf of our College Council, Assistant Principal, Selen Atilla, and all our staff, I wish everyone a restful break and we look forward to the return of our students after Anzac Day, on Wednesday, 26th April. Monday, 24th April is a Pupil Free Day. Students are not required to attend on this day, a staff planning day.
