Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is now open and Lalor North Secondary College is excited to be participating. The Challenge is open to all Victorian children from birth to Year 10 in recognition of the importance of reading for literacy development. It is not a competition but a personal challenge for children to read a set number of books by the 8th of September 2023.

Here at the College, all Year 7 to 9 students had an introductory library session on the Reading Challenge and the requirements.

To complete the Challenge, students will need to finish 15 books (10 from the Challenge booklist and 5 Choice) and enter these on the VPRC website using their VPRC username and password which was handed out to them. They can include novels, picture books, graphic novels, nonfiction books and books in other languages. All students who meet the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier and former Premiers, Quick Notes and will go in the draw to receive special prizes early in term 4. Year 10 students can access their usernames and passwords from their English teacher or library staff.

Students can log in to their reading record at: https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home, click on Student Login and VPRC login. A more detailed Powerpoint has been posted on the Compass news feed for these students.
