Interschool Cross Country

On Friday March 3rd, St. Johns had 24 students compete at the Interschool Cross Country event held at Hansen Reserve.

I was very proud of the efforts of all of our students who gave their very best effort in their races. They helped each other along with encouragement and a positive attitude. St. Johns has one student who has qualified for the Divisional Cross Country event in the Under 11 Division. Congratulations Pearl!  The St. John's community wishes Pearl all the very best as she moves forward to the next level.

District Swimming

On Thursday 9th March, three students from St. Johns made it through to the Divisional Swimming Carnival. Freya (Grade 4), Bethany (Grade 4) and Vanessa (Grade 6) had an amazing opportunity competing against other students within the Western Metropolitan area.

I was really proud to hear that the students had a wonderful day and tried their very best.

The results from the day:

Bethany competed in the Under 10’s Freestyle (2nd place) and Breaststroke (3rd place) swimming events. Bethany has qualified to attend the next level of competition for Under 10’s Freestyle. We wish Bethany all the best, as she moves to the Regional Swimming Championships.

Vanessa competed in the Under 12/13 Freestyle (4th place) and Breaststroke (3rd place).

Freya competed in the Under 10’s Backstroke (3rd place).

Bethany, Vanessa and Freya also competed in the Under 12/13 Boys relay for fun and came home in 1st place. This was a huge effort from our girls, as they swam like champions and stood with absolute pride after winning by a substantial margin in a very competitive race.

Well done girls! We are so proud.

AFL - Western Bulldog Player Appearance

We were very excited and lucky to have some of the Western Bulldogs Players (Ed Richards, Tom Liberatore and Roarke Smith) and AFL Victoria visit our school. Students in Grade 2 had the opportunity to participate in a mini football clinic with the Western Bulldog stars. The players concluded their visit with a whole school Question & Answer session. The students enjoyed getting to know their idols. We cannot thank AFL Victoria enough for selecting our school to have this special visit. The students cannot wait to welcome the players back soon.
