Literature Class - The Great Gatsby

'For Term 1, Rosie’s Literature class has been studying F. Scott Fitzgerald’s, The Great Gatsby.

However, last week it was time to jazz things up and move on to a film text.  It seemed the perfect opportunity to relish in the fast-paced editing and eclectic soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s interpretation of The Great Gatsby.

To enhance the cinematic experience, students were thrilled to watch the film in the Auditorium.  With the lights out, snacks at the ready and some Gatsby themed cupcakes to devour, the students were able to enjoy Luhrmann & Fitzgerald’s extravaganza.

Afterwards, it was time to put our film critic’s hats on and critique. The reviews ranged from 3-5 stars with Rosie naturally amping up the cringe factor by calling it a ‘romp’.   Nevertheless, the students enjoyed a taste of critiquing Luhrmann’s artistry.'
