Monash Swimming

Our wonderful Brentwood Swimming Team competed at the Monash Division Swimming Carnival on the 7th of March at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. The students in the team qualified curtesy of winning their respective events at our House Swimming Carnival, a great achievement.

The day was full of very strong competition as our team competed against our local rivals in Wheelers Hill, Wellington, South Oakleigh and John Monash. We had a number of swimmers win their events, including 8 different relay teams, meaning that they now progress to the Eastern Metropolitan event later this term.

The team also brought home some silverware, winning the Junior Shield, the Intermediate Shield and the Overall Shield. A great result from all involved. I'm sure we all wish those swimmers competing at EMR the very best of luck!

Intermediate Girls Tennis

Brentwood sent an intermediate (year 9 and 10) girls tennis team to compete at the recent Monash Division round robin day. The weather was perfect for a day of tennis; sunshine, blue skies and no wind! After a solid warm up, our girls team had their toughest match in the first round against John Monash A. We narrowly lost; tied with 3 sets each, however we only had 14 games to John Monash’s 15 games.

Over the next 3 rounds, the Brentwood girls won against each team; defeating John Monash B 4-2, South Oakleigh A 5-1, and Wellington A 6-0. Brentwood came second at this round robin day. Well done!

Team Members : Lulu Yao, Gia Shiv, Summer Lay, Skye Lay, Gabriela Santamaria Vidarte, and Aya Van Schie

Thank you to our senior student coach, Angie Nikolova, for preparing the girls and motivating them throughout the round robin. Thank you also to Ms Anrep for putting the team together and coaching them at school.

Well done girls!
