Principal's Report

Dear Families,

It is hard to believe that I sit to write the final newsletter of the term already! Although it’s a slightly longer Term One than usual, it seems again to have flown by. I hope you all have something lovely planned for the holiday break and enjoy some ‘R&R’ in preparation for Term Two.

Duty of Care

I’d like to take this opportunity to again remind everyone about duty of care and school drop-off and pick-up arrangements. We have had several students at school well before 8:30am in the morning, and it is important to again highlight that our duty of care for supervision before school begins at 8:45am. I understand we have working parents, and arrangements can at times be challenging, however if this is occurring in an ongoing way, I am asking families to either make arrangements with other parents/families at our school or to take up before school care with the YMCA provider.

Similarly, at the end of the school day, it is lovely to see so many families staying on to play in the school. However, I need to point out the importance of this always being under close parent/carer supervision and not done from a distance.

End of Term Arrangements

Next week is our final week of term, with school concluding at 2:30pm on Thursday 6th April (Good Friday is 7th April). As such, our final assembly is on at 2:30Ppm this Friday, 31st March in Penberthy Hall. This is always an exciting assembly as our Citizens of the Term are awarded to students who have shown exemplary demonstration of our school values throughout the term. Please note that Term Two resumes on Monday 24th April, with the following day, 25th April being the ANZAC DAY public holiday.

Term Two

Our Year 1, 2, 3 & 4 students will start their Swimming Program on Friday 28th April, and this will run for seven weeks, this year at the YMCA Aquatic Centre. We have made the decision to try this as an alternative venue for 2023 and will review and compare this when we plan for our 2024 program. Further details will be communicated by Mr Haire regarding the swimming programs. Also, just another reminder that our Pupil Free Day for Term Two is Friday 9th June.

Don’t forget that our Easter Hat Parade will again be happening next Thursday morning – fingers crossed for good weather so we can again hold this outside on the basketball court! I can’t wait to see those creative designs.

Have a wonderful Easter break, everyone.

Until I see you in person,

David Garner

Principal
